Die Ausstellung Homebase zeigt Bilder, Projektionen, Dokumentationen und Inszenierungen von Räumen. Es sind Fotografien, Zeichnungen, Filme und Installationen zu sehen, aber – abgesehen von den Besuchern – selten Menschen, die in ihnen agieren. Manche dieser Interieurs wurden vorgefunden und als räumliche Ensembles in ihrer spezifischen Atmosphäre fotografisch eingefangen. Sie lassen die Menschen erahnen, die sie bewohnen oder bewohnt haben, ihre individuellen Vorlieben, ihren sozialen Status und kulturellen Kontext. Daneben stehen Interieurs, die von den Künstlern fiktional entworfen, real gebaut und dokumentiert wurden oder eigene Raumsegmente innerhalb der Ausstellungsfläche markieren. Immer wieder steht die Grenze privat/öffentlich zur Debatte, die – besonders in Zeiten von Social Media – nicht kongruent mit derjenigen zwischen Innen- und Außenraum ist. Durch Zeigen und Ausblenden von Informationen werden politische Aspekte des Wohnens beleuchtet und die heutigen Funktionen des Wohnraums befragt. Ein Katalog ist im Kerber Verlag erschienen.
Die Ausstellung ist eine Kooperation mit der Kunsthalle Nürnberg. Mit freundlicher Unterstützung von ProHelvetia.

The exhibition Homebase features images, projections, documentations and displays of rooms. Photographs, drawings, films and spatial installations are to be seen, but – aside from the visitors – seldom humans are present within them. Some of these interiors were discovered and captured as spatial ensembles in their specific atmosphere using photographic means. They convey an idea of the people that live or lived in them, their particular preferences, their social status and cultural context. Next to this are interiors, which were fictionally conceived by the artists, then built in real and documented, or which mark distinct spatial segments within the exhibition space. Quite frequently the boundary between the private and the public sphere is up for debate, which – especially in times of social media – is not necessarily congruent with that between the inner and outer space. By the act of displaying or concealing, political aspects of living are being examined and functions of today’s living space are critically questioned.

The exhibition is a cooperation with Kunsthalle Nürnberg. Supported by ProHelvetia.
